Wickedness Does not Pay

Lessons from my QuietTime:
Wickedness Does Not Pay
“Even as I have seen, they that plough iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.”
Job 4:8
The Bible tells us that whatever a man sows that is what he will also reap!
A man cannot sow or plant apples, and reap mangoes! A wicked man will surely reap his wickedness! The evil which a man does will follow after him!
The truth is that wickedness has been a major challenge to humanity. From Noah’s time to date, our world has been plagued with notorious and nefarious acts of wickedness. The Bible says, “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Genesis 6:5
What is Wickedness?
Wickedness is the quality of being evil and doing evil or bad things. One is considered to be wicked when one does bad things or commits evil consciously and deliberately. Wickedness is a free choice! You can choose to be wicked! You can choose to be bad, evil and vicious! For example, King Ahab chose to sell himself to work wickedness via the prompting of his wife, Jezebel.
The Bible says, “But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.”
1 Kings 21:25
How to stop being wicked:
1. Become a child of God
“Therefore hearken unto me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.”
Job 34:10
God does not do wickedness nor does He commit iniquity, as such, no child of His is expected to live a life of wickedness. You will stop being wicked if you allow the righteous Son of God and the Word of God to dwell in you richly. A life outside of God is prone to wickedness! A child of God must live and behave like God.
2. Be God-fearing
“There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?”
Genesis 39:9
To Joseph, sleeping with another man’s wife was an act of wickedness, hence he decided to run away from Potiphar’s wife. Do you know that prostitution is an act of wickedness? The Bible says, “Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land falls to whoredom, and the land becomes full of wickedness.”
Leviticus 19:29
You can stop being wicked by running away from every act of prostitution and immorality!
3. Beware of Retribution
“… the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.”
Ezekiel 18:20
The truth is that there is no profit or benefit for being wicked, as every act of wickedness shall be rewarded in the same coin! No wicked person will ever escape the judgement of God unless he or she repents of their wickedness!
God is still in the business of overthrowing the wicked for their wickedness. “… God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.”
Proverbs 21:12
I pray that God may cause you to hate wickedness and embrace righteousness in Jesus’ name!
Yours sincerely,
