5 Ways to Please God

Lessons from my
“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.”
1John 3:22
God’s Word says that “when a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Pleasing the Lord is profitable! Pleasing the Lord is beneficial! Do you know that we are not called to please ourselves but to please God who loved and reconciled us to Himself via Jesus Christ? Do you know that when we please God, we stand the chance of receiving whatever we ask of Him? There are things we must do to please God or bring pleasure to His heart. For instance, we please the Lord, when we live in a way that brings honour and glory to His name via our good works. Also, our growth in the knowledge of God brings pleasure to His heart. The Bible says, “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;”
Col 1:10
Jesus Christ, the patterned Son of God, during His earthly sojourn, gave a personal testimony of pleasing the Father always. The Bible says, “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.”
John 8:29
Let’s consider 5 outstanding ways by which we may please the Lord:

  1. The Way of Speech
“And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.”
    1 Kings 3:10
There are speeches, and there are speeches! It is not every speech that pleases the Lord. Solomon’s speech pleased the Lord because he asked for an understanding heart to judge God’s people as against personal things like wealth and long life. Your speech or prayers will please the Lord when you deemphasize yourself!
  2. The Way of Sacrificial Giving
“But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God.”
    Phil 4:18
There is nothing that pleases the Lord like sacrificial giving towards the advancement of His kingdom on earth. And especially, when we give to men of God who are in the trenches of kingdom ministry like Apostle Paul.
  3. The Way of Obedience
“Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well-pleasing unto the Lord.”
    Col 3:20
One profound way to please the Lord is to live a life of obedience to God and man! We please the Lord when we obey our parents in all things. Parents in this context could include our foster or spiritual parents who teach and guide us in the ways of the Lord.
  4. The Way of Consecration
“So I beg you, brothers and sisters, because of the great mercy God has shown us, offer your lives as a living sacrifice to Him—an offering that is only for God and pleasing to him. Considering what he has done, it is only right that you should worship him in this way.”
    Romans 12:1 ERV
  5. The Way of Faith
“Without faith, no one can please God. Whoever comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who sincerely try to find him.”
    Hebrews 11:6 ERV
I decree and declare that you will always please the Lord in Jesus’ mighty name.
    Yours sincerely,
